New Arena in 3 Years?

August 18, 2003 |

In an interview with the Clay-Platte Dispatch, Mayor Kay Barnes reveals that plans for the ellusive new downtown arena should be made public within a few weeks. And she declares that it will be built before the end of her term, which leaves only 3 1/2 years for planning, design, and construction. Not only is that an ambitious schedule, but financing hinges on the success of a companion entertainment district. Hopefully this one will be more successful than the Power & Light District boondogle.
