In November KCMO voters will be asked to raise the transit sales tax from 1/2 cent to 3/8 cent, in order to address a serious budget crisis at the KC Area Transportation Authority. Sales tax receipts in Kansas City haven’t kept pace with inflation, leading to a serious revenue problem for the ATA. If the increase doesn’t pass, the ATA has said that they will be forced to slash bus routes in the northern and sourthern ends of the city, as well as reduce schedules in the urban core. Today local blogger Heidi reports on the web site for the sales tax campaign: Keep KC Working.
