Gadgets galore
October 17, 2003 |
Today the Ultimate Electronics chain opens its first stores in the KC market. The company features mid- to high-range electronics and knowledgeable salesmen. Two stores open today, one in Kansas City on NW Barry Road just west of Hwy 169, and a second in Independence in the Hartman Heritage Center at I-70 and Little Blue Parkway. Kansas and Lee’s Summit stores are planned for this winter and next year. Ultimate Electronics joins an increasingly crowded KC market, with local favorite BrandsMart, heavyweight newcomer Nebraska Furniture Market, and the national chains like Best Buy, etc.

I tried out the Independence store, and wasn’t really impressed. It’s a nice place, but not much better than large Brandsmart. And the sales people were very pushy and over-eager. I got the feeling that they work on commission.
