McCaskill is in

After much speculation, Missouri State Auditor Claire McCaskill announced today that she is challenging Governor Bob Holden for the Democratic nomination in 2004. The announcement will take place at the Jackson County Courthouse in Downtown Kansas City, followed by similar announcements in Columbia and St. Louis. McCaskill has already scored a major endoresment from former Lt. Governor Roger Wilson, while former U.S. Senator Jean Carnahan is backing Holden. The race is on.

Update 29 October 2003: Jackson County Executive Katheryn Shields and former KC mayor Emmanuael Cleaver both announced that they are endorsing Governor Holden, despite their close ties to McCaskill.
