Democrats rally around a Republican

Pitch CoverHere’s an interesting read from the Pitch on the Bond Phenomenon – Kansas City Democrats and African Americans supporting and fund-raising for the hard-core conservative US Senator Kit Bond. Despite strong disagreements with many of Bond’s policies and votes, local Dems are eager to support and curry favor with him. The key is that it all comes down to money. Kit Bond is a master at bringing home pork from Washington, and for a Republican he has been very supportive of inner-city and minority projects.

For example… $300 million to move 6,000 IRS jobs from the suburbs to Downtown, $4 million for the Swope Parkway Health Center’s new building, $1.5 million townhouses in the Mount Cleveland neighborhood, and the list goes on.

The Pitch: Dude, where’s the party?

    Now that Gephardt is out of the Presidential race, I wish he would run for Senate against Bond.

    It is the sick truth that Emmanual Cleaver is one of Kit Bond’s many puppets he has set up.
    The African American popualtion in this city has seemed to have sold out in order to get their
    part of the pork barrel. As a result, they allow Bond into the senate to vote against as
    much integration as possible. Also, allowing Cleaver into Congress allows for Bond to have an
    Agenda in Congress rather than just the house, so what is next, Ban all homosexuals from Missouri? Kit bond has been a very poor leader for our state and the sooner we get those who want to integrate Religion and Politics like Bond, Talent, and REVERAND Cleaver, equality will not prevail in our nation.
