The metro area issued a record 10,742 home construction permits in 2003, while the average new house price reached $237,239. Kansas City, MO lead the way with 1932 permits, driven mostly by explosive in Northland growth in Clay County and continued Downtown revitalization. Other top-ten cities were Olathe, Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, Shawnee, Raymore, KCK/Wyandotte County, Grain Valley, Lenexa and Gardner.
