Cold case squad catches a serial killer
April 19, 2004 |
KMBZ-AM 980 radio is breaking a story about the KCPD’s cold case squad catching a serial killer responsible for at least 12 murders, the worst in Missouri history. Lorenzo Gilyard is being charged with the murders between 1977 and 1993, all occurring between several stints in prison. DNA testing and good old fashion detective work seem to be key in linking all of these old cases to Gilyard.
History of serial killers in the Kansas City area
- John E. Robinson Sr., killed at least eight women over fifteen years in Cass County, Missouri and Linn County, Kansas.
- Robert Berdella, died in prison after confessing to the torture and killing of six men in Kansas City between 1984 and 1987.
- Ray Shawn Jackson, convicted of raping and strangling six women between 1989 and 1990 in Kansas City. He was known as the Gillham Park Strangler.
- Gary Beach, shot five men in his Westport home in 1999.
- Ray and Faye Copeland, elderly couple who killed five drifters on their farm near Chillicothe, Missouri.
- Bodies of close to 20 prostitutes have been found in the Missouri River over the last 20 years, although police still do no know if the murders are the work a single serial killer or multiple murderers.

I am looking for information on the murder of my cousin 13 yr old Beverly Pilcher who was found dead in the Missouri River in the early 90’s. I am not sure of all the details, I have heard her legs and maybe arms were cut-off. I have checked the Unsolved Mystery website (questions if it was televised).
hi, my friends mother was also found in the Missouri river. her name is Chandra Helsel. she knows who did it. his name is Thomas Bogart. you probably know who i am talking about. if you don’t you are about to find out. hes a heavy set guy (looks like a biker). he does mechanic work. and has a bad temper. blue eyes. dark curly hair. my friend has pictures of him standing next to her mom with a black eye. he tried killing her before. threatened her alot. she was a prostitute in independence. my friend has letters he used to write her. she has all this “evidence”, but she fells they wont find him. if you want more info. send me an e-mail. c.guerrero69@yahoo.com. i would like to help as much as i can.
Read the old article it was up years ago. 10 or so yrs ago that lady moved to save her life. It was Thomas Bogart and the girl Hilary Howard was almost killed but lived.
Read the news section at http://www.zolaenterprises.com then click Missouri Serial Killer.

http://www.zolaenterprises.com/Thomas.htm but read all the page it is heavy stuff there.
Yes it was him and as you see they knew .. the last one survived and is or was hidden.
I know he has asked one of his neighbor who had replaced thier carpet if he could have it, perhaps he used that as a means of disposal of the bodies, there were times he would bring trucks home late from work. He was a supervisor at a track company, so he could had any number of ways of getting of bodies that the police have not found.
