The Kansas City Public Library’s magnificent new Central Libray opens on Monday, April 12th at 14 W. 10th St. (10th and Baltimore, a block east west of Main Street). The library has been busy on a wonderful restoration of the historic First National Bank building to replace the old Main Library that was located in the crappy Board of Education Building. Not only will the new facility be a landmark for Downtown and the entire city, it has already contributed to the explosion of Downtown redevelopment by spurring several loft projects in the surrounding Library District. The historic building will also integrate technology features such as laptop network ports, a free wireless network, a technology training center, and an adaptive technology center for the disabled.
