Washington, DC, Jun. 21 (UPI) — A poll of Missouri Democrats indicates incumbent Gov. Bob Holden has a solid lead over state Auditor Claire McCaskill in the gubernatorial primary.

Holden, who was first elected governor in 2000, leads McCaskill by 13 points, 46 percent to 33 percent, among Democrats who say they are likely to vote in the Aug. 3 primary. A third candidate, Cole County Auditor Jim LePage, is at 2 percent, trailing the field behind the 19 percent of voters who say they are undecided.

Pollster Garin-Hart-Yang said more than two-thirds of primary voters gave Holden a positive job rating and a 53 percent to 29 percent lead “among primary voters who have favorable feelings towards both candidates.”

The poll was conducted for Holden’s campaign June 14-16. It has a margin of error of 4 percent.
