Meth Capital no more

Back in the 1990s Independence earned the dubious distinction of Meth Capital of the World, due to the huge numbers of meth labs busted in the city and elsewhere in Jackson County and Missouri. Although much of that was due to an aggressive crack down by law enforcement that busted a higher percentage of labs than in most other cities. The Independence Examiner reports that the meth crisis is now abating over the last couple of years.
