Kansas ordered to close public schools

Cofran out of 5th district race

Former KCMO council member Dan Cofran has dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination for the 5th congressional distict of Missouri. That leaves former KCMO mayor Rev. Emanuel Cleaver and UMKC law professor/political pundit Jamie Metzel, plus five Republican candidates lead by former Cerner executie Jeanne Patterson.

KCPD speeder crackdown

The KCPD is forming a new traffic unit with 10 officers to enforce speed limits across the city, with special emphasis on highways like I-70, I-435, US 71, MO 152, etc. So watch out for those 55 and 45 mph zones on I-70 and 71 highway, as well as construction zones.

Kansas gay marriage ban dead

In a surprising twist yesterday the Kansas House gave up trying to pass a constitutional ban on gay marriage. Appareantly there are some moderate Republicans left in Kansas after all.
