Yesterday Mayor Kay Barnes finally unveiled her long-delayed plan for a new arena. The $200 million+ Sprint Center will be built with 60% public and 40% private money, including naming rights fees from Sprint. Voters will be asked in August to raise fees on hotel rooms and rental cars. Also included is $50 million from Anschutz Entertainment Group, the company that owns the LA Staples Center and whose CEO is Tim Liewicki, the marketing guy behind the KC Comets’ success in the 1980s.

Please get it to pass, and get kansas city an nba team by 2007. Please!!!!
this would be huge if kansas city get a NHL and a NBA team here in Kansas City
it would bring tons of money to the KANSAS CITY AREA
I think that the idea for the “Sprint Center” is pointless. Kansas City is already loosing money at “Kemper Areana” why have 2 failing areanas. We don’t have the draw like the bigger cities we couldn’t keep the King’s in the 70′s and countless minor league hockey teams why would it change now.
