The arena is being proposed by the city and supported by the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Greater KC and Northland Chambers of Commerce, Freedom Inc. and several others. The marketing campaign is being run by NorthStar Marketing, a familiar name in many KC and Missouri elections that includes Mayor Barnes’ political advisors Steve Glorioso and Pat Gray.

The opposition is being led by the rental car industry and City Council Member Saundra McFadden-Weaver. Most of the opposition financing is coming from St. Louis-based Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and the campaign is run by the St. Louis headquarters of the Fleishman Hillard ad agency.
