Here’s some good news… Instead of yet another Sprint layoff, today we have news of a local business planning for a big hiring spree. The Biz Journal and The Star’s Kevin Collison report that engineering firm Burns & McDonnell is hiring 350-400 people in the next three years. That’s probably second only to Cerner’s hiring of 3,000-plus people in recent years. While the company is staying at it’s Ward Parkway headquarters, it’s also looking for a big chunk of new office space to house some of the new employees. Local cities are already hustling to land that lease.
