Millionaire in the 5th District

The Star reports that Republican Jeanne Patterson’s personal contributions to her 5th District Congressional campaign are now approaching $1 million, setting off the so-called “millionaire’s amendment” in the new campaign finance laws. This means that Emanuel Cleaver can now accept individual donations up to $6000, instead of the usual $2000 limit.

    Jeanne Patterson thinks that if her husband spends enough of his money on her campaign then they can go to the Republican Party and demand a seat on some health care committee or something that will help his compa
    company. They will say–”Look we paid out dues as party loyalists, and now we want th
    this seat.” That is what this is all about. Buying a little ( or alot) of influence.
