Blunt-McCaskill debate, part I
October 19, 2004 | Comments Off
Last night’s debate was very intense, with candidates deviating little from their standard campaign themes. The journalists lob lots of softball questions at the candidates, who hit back with their standard stump speech responses.
Matt Blunt did a decent job of holding his own, but was obviously outgunned by Claire McCaskill, who repeatedly campare her 20 years of experience in public servcie to Blunt’s six years. The only noticable mistakes on either side were Blunt’s three references to “Senator McCaskill” and two uses of the royal “we” when referring to himself.
- KC Star: Experience, values are main points of contention.
- St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Depate focuses on change vs. experience.
