Governor debate tonight

First debate between Claire McCaskill and Matt Blunt is tonight at 7:00pm at the Liberty Memorial museum. It will be aired on Channels 9 and 19, and 89.3 FM.

Blunt starts the week with a bizarre TV ad accussing McCaskill of sending jobs and doctors to Kansas, and telling her to run for governor in that state, instead of Missouri. Meanwhile, McCaskill starts the week with a strong endorsement from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Missouri police officers union. She’ll also hold a pre-debate rally with Mayor Kay Barnes, former Governor Roger Wilson, and Illinois Senator Dick Durban – 4:00 pm at Liberty Memorial.

Other races also play up regional rivalries. Bekki Cook and Robin Carnahan have teamed with a new ad criticizing their opponents Pete Kinder and Catherine Hanaway for supporting St. Louis’ new baseball stadium while voting to cut education funding.
