Kerry pulling out of Missouri?

Even while John Edwards was in KC yesterday reassuring Missouri Democrats that the campaign is still focused here, Arch City Chronicle reports that John Kerry was deciding to pull it’s staffers out of the state. If this is true, it looks like a premature end to what was an unprecedented field operation much bigger than 2000. It would also be problematic for the Democrats’ strong field of state-wide candidates.

If this is true, there are still plenty of Democratic groups doing GOTV operations here,
including America Coming Together (www.actforvictory.org). Any volunteers would be welcome
to join in the fight with ACT.

OVER 215,000 NON-VOTERS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED, that is people who did not vote in 2000, WHO INTEND TO VOTE FOR KERRY on NOVEMBER 2nd! GORE ONLY LOST MISSOURI BY 73,000. This is according to good info from the dem party. So don’t go crying in your beer yet! Want Kerry to WIN? Then GET OUT THERE, find out where you can become involved. ACT would be a good place to start. I am not with them, but I am sure they will be more than happy to accept volunteers and work them!

    Volunteers are welcome. Please come!

For the mortals reading, GOTV isn’t a TV channel. It stands for Get Out The Vote, as in encouraging people to actually go cast their vote on election day.

The ACT field operation is very strong–the state party is good too–far better than what Kerry’s people would have done.

Kerry is out, but then Bush probably is too. It comes down to ACT and Missouri Dems
against Evangelical Radio and The Missouri Republicans.

    good riddance!

I have run across many ACT members in Kansas City. People on metro buses registering people to vote. Voluteers canvassing my neighborhood (and the neighborhoods where I work, and shop) getting people registered to vote. All of these neighborhoods would probably have a lot more Democrats and future Democrats in them. The Democratic Party is on the rise in the whole country. It’s getting back to where it was before the Clinton sex scandal. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re close. There were just enough people who decided not to vote for Gore because they couldn’t take it out on Bill Clinton, that it was just enough to matter. The less-defined candidate gets most of the undecided voters this close to an election, and that’s John Kerry.

I hope Lurch and his Ambulance Chasing buddy stay out of Missouri and never come back. Who invited them anyway?
