Morality Malfunction?

December 23, 2004 |

Johnny Dare's Morning ShowThe fallout from the Superbowl Boobgate has reached river city… The FCC is fining the owners of KQRC-FM 98.9 $220,000 for alleged indecency on the Johnny Dare morning show (which is the highest rated radio show in KC). Here’s the kicker, these episodes aired in 2002, well before the nation was plunged into moral peril by Janet Jackson’s right breast and the ensuing crackdown on the airwaves.

The Star: FCC fines Dare show $220,000 for indecency.
KMBC-TV 9: Radio stations face fines for naked twister.

Tony’s Kansas City summed it up best:

Free Speech isn’t free. It now requires a cable, satellite or Internet subscription

The fcc is wrong in this case, everybody in the KC area
knows the morning show so if people do not like the show
don’t listen. I’m a loyal listener to THE ROCK and love
the morning show. I can understand the Super Bowl fiasco
there should have been fines but the naked twister is
nothing close to that, if anything there should only be
a warning to the radio station.
