The Roasterie sets up shop
December 19, 2004 |
Danny O’Neill, owner of the popular Roasterie coffee company, is opening up a store in Brookside. The location is the former Amoco gas station at 6223 Brookside Blvd. News of O’Neill’s plan should be sweet for the neighborhood - back in 2001 they fought off a proposed Starbucks at this location and ended up with new zoning to regulate suburban-style retail chains in Brookside.
The Star’s Cityscape: Brookside cafe is on Roasterie’s menu.

I hope it doesn’t cut badly into the business done by Bella Napoli - they are some of the nicest people around, and make a good cup of coffee!
Uh, and Bella isn’t open at night, so I never go there. Yea, Roasterie–as long as they keep evening hours!
Excellent! The Roasterie is not only excellent in how they do business, but how they do coffee–I love that Brookside takes its community building to that level–I wish it were a standard.
Still, it’s a damn shame that that Amoco ever had to close down. We lived a block away at the time, and that little family-owned station was where I always bought my gas and cigs (I was still a smoker back then) — how many years has it sat idle now? For no good reason? Effing Starbucks.
Wouldn’t mind a Roasterie cafe, though, I’ll admit.
Given O’niell’s “golden boy” status w/ a variety of GKC
Chamber folks w/ weight, look for this to happen.
He seems to have the midas touch. Go git em Danny!
