Porn Tax
January 31, 2005 |
State Senator Matt Bartle (Republican from Lee’s Summit) is on a morality roll this year. Forget about our crumbling roadsd, bankrupt schools, and uninsured - his own religious agenda is far more important to Senator Bartle. First there is his annual attempt to ban stem cell research and destroy the state’s promising biotechnology industry. The Star reports that now he wants to tax adult businesses out of existence.
Senate Bill 32 would impose a deadly mix of restrictions on adult businesses - $5 admission fee at adult bookstores, a whopping 20% sales tax on all magazines/videos/toys, a ban on adult movie theaters, and close any remaining businesses at 10pm every night.
KRBZ-FM 96.5 “The Buzz” already has a petition going to oppose Bartle’s cock block.
Update: The Buzz continues to become more political active. It hit Senator Bartle hard today. In addition to the petition, SB 32 was the major topic on Afentra’s morning show and Lazlo’s drive-time show.

I didn’t vote for him and never would. He’s worthless. How many of our tax dollars will be wasted if the “Tax porn out of business” bill passes and the state wastes money trying to defend something that will never pass constitutional muster?
I can only wonder what, after he accomplishes a statewide prohibition on adult industry, What his next agenda will be. Maybe tattoo shop’s or music store’s. It’s as if to say ” it’s ok to to want to swim, it’s your god given right to swim, when and where you want to, but it’s against the law to possess more then a gallon of water.”
