Andi Udris moving to Union Station
February 26, 2005 | Comments Off
Andi Udris, the lackluster director of the city-funded Economic Development Corporation, will be the new CEO of the struggling Union Station. In hiring Udris, the station’s board passed over interim CEO Sean O’Byrne, who as been credited with executing a much-needed economic turn around plan for the station and Science City. O’Byrne had been on loan from the Downtown Council, where he was in charge of the very successful Community Improvement District.
Udris wants to create a “museum center” in and around Union Station, despite a lack of museum credentials or background – a characteristic he shares with Turner White, the previous CEO. Next up will be consideration of permament funding for Union Station. KCMO voters will likely be asked for a property tax increase in the fall.
