Northland Republican Feud
February 17, 2005 |
Northland Republicans continue fighting amongst themselves. First it was the wingnut takeover of the Platte County Commission. Now Ryan Silvey has just won a nasty fight with Judy Bowman for their party’s nomination to replace the late Dan Bishop in the 38th Missouri House District. Meanwhile, Former KC City Councilmember and Northland political heavyweight Teresa Loar switched parties and is running for the seat as a Democrat. The primary election is on April 5.
“The party left me,” Loar said. “When the ultra-right wing became dominant in the party - with the intolerance they have for anyone who thinks differently - it became very discouraging to me.”
“I’m in this race to fulfill Dan’s legacy. I was a very good friend of Dan’s and he stood for everything I believe in,” Loar said. “I will bring common sense to Jefferson City. We need some voices of reason down there.”
