Matt Bartle Profile

The Pitch’s David Martin has a front-page profile of Republicans’ other precocious Matt, State Senator Matt Bartle of Lee’s Scummit Summit. In addition to pushing the porn tax, Bartle is one of the driving forces behind the push to ban stem cell research in Missouri. It’s a fight that’s dividing the mega-church and country club Republicans, and it will likely end up being decided by Governor Blunt.

Update: Roy Temple over at Fired Up Missouri found a video of Bartle talking about cloning at his mega-church, First Baptist of Raytown.

It shouldn’t surprise us that many in the scientific community adamantly oppose any effort to forbid them from altering the manner in which human life begins… Like Adam and Eve, man is attempting to usurp the authority and perogative of god as we launch into human cloning.
