Dave Helling leaving KCTV

April 22, 2005 | 3 Comments

KCTV-5’s long time anchor and political reporter Dave Helling is leaving Channel 5 soon. Appareantly the respected journalist finally had enough of the station’s new “Live, Late-Breaking, and Sleazy” orientation. Hopefully Helling’s reputation will recover from the fertilizer debacle and he will resurface elsewhere in KC. Note to Dave: Ever heard of blogging? Check it out.

Hearne: Helling hath no fury leaving Channel 5.

At least with Helling gone, channel 5 won’t have anymore journalistic conscience to restrain Steve Chamraz’s brilliant tabloid reporting.

David has always been respected as a man
and dedicated journalist. He started in NE
for an affliated ABC TV station and out did
his competition. A hard working guy that
made the most of a good story. And not bad
on the eyes. Somewhere along the road he
fell in love with a co-journalist Terri. I am
sure he continues to be a great husband and
father and continues his hours of hard work
for the best story he can produce.
