Almost forgot to pimp The Pitch’s cover story from last week. Kendrick Blackwood has a great new profile of Jackson County Executive Kathern Shields and what might very well be the beginning of her fall. However, we still don’t count her out. She plays the good ol’ boy game better than most of the boys, and will still be the front runner in the 2007 mayor’s race if she isn’t in prison by then.

In semi-related news, Steve Kraske reports that 5th District Councilwoman Becky Nace has become the first mayoral candidate to form an official fundraising committee.
