Wow good thing I'm moving up that direction and work downtown! If they do a ferry I will do nothing but laugh my butt off everytime I board that thing.

But I have to admit I'm happy to see them doing something about the road/bridge conditions in our dead last city.

It's very possible that the original evaluation could be far off the mark. Think back to when the bridge failed two winters ago. It had just undergone a thorough inspection that missed all of the pidgeon shit corroding the joints.

I have full confidence that the city will make the most cost-effective decision.

It’s very unlikely that a determination of that nature (cheaper to build a new than repair the old) would come at this point. The earlier evaluations would have to have been totally incompetent.

If, and I repeat, _if_, the engineers come to the conclusion that building a new bridge is preferable, there has to be crookedness involved.

I have heard that it one of the contractors who is saying the bridge should be torn down. Another contractor is saying it's OK and a renovated bridge could hold up a few more years until a replacement is built. For now they are going to keep working and evaluating what they uncover. No decision will be made for at least for a few more weeks.
