Westport improvements

June 27, 2005 |

Some much-needed improvements are finally coming to Westport. At the beginning of the year area merchants formed a Community Improvement District to levy a half-cent sales tax for increased security and other improvements. Sometime this summer the tree-line streetscape on Pennsylvania will be extended to the rest of the neighorhood, and signs will go up with directions for tourists.

Other efforts to make Westport more “adult” include several new restaurants. However, no progress has been made on a plan to add more housing and condos, including on top of the Manor Square garage and on the parking lot in front of Buzzard Beach.
