Strip club restrictions become law

Missouri: Where the prudes runGovernor Blunt has signed into law the strip club restrictions passed by the General Assembly in May. Among the new rules: no more full nudity (pasties and g-strings for all), no more lap dances, and no customers within 10 feet of the dancers. Clubs are already preparing to sue the state, so the law probably won’t go into effect yet.

KC Star: Blunt signs bill against baring it all.

Matt Blunt is a moron. This is just stupid. Pull your head out of your Priest’s ass and focus on the real issues of MO. Blunt you dumbfuck!

wow, i never thought i’d see the day when kansas has become more liberal than missouri.

what ever happened with the adult business laws that were being pushed a few months ago?

  3. brainiac says:

He’s following that up with signing a bill that requires minors have a parent’s consent before getting a Brazilian wax.

I didn’t know either was a pressing concern for the state of Missouri.

    Wait, wait, wait

    Straw Man Alert.

Surely, the state of Missouri has more pressing concerns. Frankly, I don’t even know where I come down on this issue. But there is a case to be made for using the hand of the state to maintain public decency/morality (according to the will of its citizens). Is this not what’s done with libel laws or public nudity laws?

Just because there are more important matters doesn’t mean this issue is irrelevant.

Using the “hand of the state to maintain public decency/morality (according to the will of its citizens)” sounds like a good idea. The majority will of the citizens in Alabama and other southern states would result the laws against interracial marriages, seperate (but equal, ha ha) schools, and most important, seperate drinking fountains. The state does not need the uphold decency and morality, they need to keep their citizens working. These laws are a roundabout way to close down adult clubs and stores.

  6. Mike says:

Actually, it’s not the state’s job to keep people working unless, of course, you’re FDR (or Karl Marx).

  7. Holly says:

Don’t worry guys, you can still get your daily dose of pornography off of the internet.

  8. M says:

Mike: FDR did more for this country than Blunt, Bush, Frist and the rest of the U.S. Taliban have done. Thank God the boobies are covered though!

  9. Jack says:

    Hooray for boobies!!!!~!!

I am a stripper working in Kansas City and I cannot believe they are actually trying to pass this law. If they think this is going to make Missouri a better place to live, they are focusing on the wrong issue. I rely on working as a dancer to pay my rent and pay for school, which I do without the help of anyone else. If this law passes I will not be able to afford school. I might even have to move out of the city. I’m even more worried about alot of the women I work with who have been dancing for most of their lives and will have a much more difficult time finding other jobs to support themselves and their children. I am just your average girl from mid missouri trying to make a living and go to college. I think Blunt has seen too many movies. Strip clubs aren’t as bad as people may think. The club I work at has a very strict policy. Absolutely nothing bad goes on at the club. I just dont understand why this is happening. Blunt is fucking up so many peoples lives by doing this, including mine. Sure, I can get a job as a secretary or waitress somewhere, but it will never give me the financial support or schedule to stay in college. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. Strippers are normal people. I have worked with some of the most beautiful, smart, driven women there are. People need to realize we are just like them. Don’t be such short sighted bitches.

I am a dancer here in Springfield. I think this bill sucks as much as anyone else but, I think that there are so many other clubs for other people to go to being St. Louis….Tulsa….Memphis….BROTHEL but still a club in the least people will not change their lifestlyes they will just drive further to enjoy the same show. But yeah I have been dancing for 2 years now and I just wish that it would pass so everyone can stop talking about it.
