It’s amazing that the old Greek Islands restaurant building has remained vacant for 10 years when it’s at such a popular location in Westport, right on Broadway Blvd. near Streetside Records, the Broadway Cafe, Starbucks, etc. The spot seems ripe for a sidwalk cafe, restaurant, or shop. It turns out that it’s owned by the guy who owns Aladdin’s Oriental Rugs just down the block. After ten years of doing nothing with the building, he has finally announced a renovation plan with a second story and balcony. The impetus was the building’s appearance on the city’s dangerous buildings list and an impending demolition order on September 15.
KC Star: It’s rehab or raze for Greek Islands spot.
