Finally, getting a handle on the metal plates
September 2, 2005 | 3 Comments
A full year after a city audit and Star special report, the city is finally dealing with the out of control metal plates covering streets all over town. The City Council has just passed an ordinance regulating plates and requiring utilities to get city permits before putting them on the street. After 90 days the city begins charging a daily fee until the plate is removed.
The best news of all, the new policy applies to the worst offenders, the city’s own water and public works departments.

bout fuckin time!
I’m still moving to Belton
There’s one on Chestnut trafficway that’s been there so long that the road stripes that were painted on it are starting to wear off.
Of course you realize this means that the water deptment will just take a lot longer to fix things.
It is not like they were leaving those plats around be cause they like them. They do not have enough funding to keep up with all the problems.
Now since they will be penalised for using the plates they will just put off repairs until they have time to re pave the spot right away.
