Mel Solomon for City Council

September 19, 2005 |

Architect Mel Solomon appears to be the first declared candidate for the 2007 City Council election. He’s running in the Fourth District (everything west of Troost from the Crossroads down to 85th St), where Jim Rowland is term-limited and likely to run for Mayor.

Solomon is a Waldo native, Southwest High School grad, former chair of the Landmarks Commission, historic preservationist, and Armour Hills neighborhood association leader. He is a Brookside resident who was also involved in the creation of the Trolley Tack Trail and the opposition to putting a Starbucks in the old Brookside Amoco stataion.

Update: We also noticed that Jan Marcason, Director of the Mid-America Assistance Coalition, has also fired paperwork for the Fourth District seat. No information yet on her candidacy.

I’ve just been staying at home waiting for something to happen. Whatever. Not much on my mind lately. I guess it doesn’t bother me.
