Joco’s Union Broadcasting has finally given up on 810 Sports’ little brother, KZPL-FM 97.3 “The Planet.” So, yet another KC radio station switches to a trailer rock format, this one called “Max FM.” The Planet had been permanently stuck at the bottom of the ratings barrel and it’s demise long speculated in the local radio community. But don’t cry for distraught DMB fans just yet, Union has moved the Planet’s playlist to an Internet stream.

Oh yeah, another consequence of the format switch is the return of Mancow to KC radio, on the 97.3 morning show.

I was wondering why I turned on what has been the best non-community radio station over the last couuple of years and it was playing the typical KY/FOX crap all weekend. Surely, they weren’t playing enough Styx and Kansas.

    Screw commercial radio!

It’s KTBG - 90.9 “The Bridge” for me since 2001.

Why would anybody listen to boring FM anymore? Anything interesting is on AM. If there were any entertaining shows anywhere near as talented, inventive and entertaining as Mancow’s, FM might fare a little better than it does. There’s good reason why the Cow keeps expanding. Can’t wait till he comes back! (Whether you like him or not I don’t care. He makes time fly at work.)

Great… No classical FM Station, but we get another rock cookie cutter station. Also we get a morning DJ, that decided to leave KC about 10 yrs ago and broadcast from Chicago acting like he was still in KC. Gee no wounder his old station bit the dust.
