Wired News profiles a company that is providing IT outsourcing services not in India but in rural America. Seems like a good deal all around. Companies in metro areas save a little money, and folks in rural areas have the opportunity to find good jobs in their own communities. In January, Rural Sourcing is opening a facility in Port Rock, off I-29 in far northwestern Missouri near Tarko.

I was raised in Great Bend, Kanas (small town of 15,000 in west central Kansas). I can relate to that.

I commend that idea. An excellent one at that. Companies can save money while providing needed jobs to rural residents (cost of living in many rural areas less than that of urban).

    It’s a win-win situation :)

I think it’s supposed to be Rock Port.

Actually, the cost of living for people in Silicon Valley is so high and rents for businesses as well as the Valley’s economy recovers that they could save big bucks even by relocating to midwestern cities like KC.
