Stadium setbacks
November 22, 2005 | 1 Comment
The Downtown baseball stadium campaign has suffered a couple of setbacks. First, Mayor Barnes killed the stadium summit where Jackson County officials were scheduled to put the smack down on John Copaken and the Downtown Council. Then, the Jackson County Legislature unanimously approved a resolution stating that the county wouldn’t participate in any stadium schemes except the renovation of the Truman Sports Complex.
County officials, [Copken] said, are ignoring significant corporate and community support for a downtown ballpark, which would be primarily funded through a countywide sales tax.
“They are saying Kauffman or bust,” he said. “It seems short-sighted and closed-minded.”
Business Journal: Stadium summit is called off.
KC Star: Backers of new ballpark blocked.
Independence Examiner: Legislature is cold to KC stadium.

Dear Blogkc,
I tried to read about the Stadium setbacks and I got was a huge Westlake Hardware ad covering most of the screen. There was a place to click to end the ad but it doesn’t work. Is this normal for your blog?
