Warning: Curves Ahead

December 19, 2005 |

December is turning out to be a roller coaster ride for Jackson County government.  1) The Ruckettes are speculating that this is week we’ll see the lease terms and ballot proposal for the Truman Sports Complex, possibly with The Roof included as a separate question. 2) Immediately after Mike Sanders officially announces for County Executive, word goes out that Jim Rowland may pull out of that race to become Executive Director of the Sports Complex Authority.  3) That leads us to reports that Jackson County Democrats are on the rocks. They have little money in the bank and their most visible politician is under federal investigation.

Perhaps the Rowlands re-assignment is an attempt by the party to avoid a primary battle in the County Executive’s race? The party is certainly vulnerable these days, especially in an office that is traditionally a safe one for them.
