Independence Seal Five people are running to replace outgoing Independence Mayor Ron Stewart. The primary on February 7th will reduce that field down to two finalists for the April 4th election. The biggest issue with most candidates seems to be how to best rejuvenate western Independence after years of losing ground to the government-financed sprawl in the city’s southeast corner.
