Democrats win big in Blunt’s backyard
February 8, 2006 | 3 Comments
Has Blunt buyer’s remorse finally shown up at the ballot box? Yesterday’s special elections resulted in Democrats winning in two very Republican House districts and coming very close in a third. Particularly significant was the 132nd House District in southwestern Missouri where Charles Dake won one of the state’s most conservative districts, which voted over 70% for Matt Blunt and George W. Bush in 2004. It’s also part of the US House district represented Governor Blunt’s father, Representative Roy Blunt.

Obviously, our reporting on this matter is not fact checked. The House District that is in question is 132nd (not the 123rd) district. I can assure you party affiliation in the Southern Part of MO is irrelevant. Due to the idealogy of the each of these candidates is tradionally more aligned on the conservative side. It is very difficult to get elected in SWMO as a Democrat if you are too far to the left.
Thanks for the correction.
That’s really funny, Kelly. Few Missouri Democrats are anywhere near the left. Most would actually Republicans if they were in a bigger state. That’s why the Democratic party controlled the state for so many years, they were more like liberal Republicans than actual Democrats.
