Good journalism

February 16, 2006 |

Even with all of the sensationalism on the local airwaves these days, actual journalism sometimes does get through. Kudos to Jim Flink at KMBC-TV 9 for an excellent piece on Tracy Pierce, who died after his insurance company refused all requests to treat the man’s cancer and wouldn’t even pay morphine in his final days. Story and video.

I think his name is actually Jim Flink.

Horrible story, and it’s a shame that in “the richest country in the world” we don’t have healthcare that covers EVERYONE.

    It’s offensive.

everyone gushes about this story, but it’s an incomplete story, in my opinion.

we know he was denied the care, but what did the insurance company have to say for itself? why wasn’t that in the story?

it’s a sad story, for sure. but when you don’t explain the other side, you’re not doing your job as a reporter.
