Democrat Jason Klumb is the first announced candidate for the 10th District seat in the Missouri Senate, the seat that Charlie Wheeler is vacating to run for Jackson County Executive. Klumb most recently ran for State Treasurer in 2004, raising a record amount of money but ultimately losing the Democratic nomination. Before that, the new Brookside resident was a State Representative from the Butler area.

I received an e-mail on the 19th that Four Freedoms Democratic Club member Jolie Justus had annouced that she was running for the seat. Justus has not held political office before. She is an attorney at Shook, Hardy and Bacon and manages their pro bono services. I found a bio of her at:

Jason Klumb has taken the momentum in the race, and has picked up many key endorsements. He’s got a solid track record in public service (National Guard officer, MO Assistant Attorney General, State Representative), and knows how to work in Jefferson City to get results. Find out more at http://www.klumb2006.com!

Edward, do you really think a candidate with an anti-gay legislative record like Klumb’s will have a chance at winning in this district?

It’s really odd that the guy who introducted Missouri’s defense of marriage act into the General Assembly is now running in one of the state’s most liberal areas.

Jason Klumb is a wishy washy wanna be politician. His carpet bagging move here does not represent our district. His work up to this date legislatily is one of the poorest for a state rep that I have seen: http://theflossingofamerica.blogspot.com/2006/03/klumb-for-state-senate-district-10.html. He has worked against a district that voted over 70% in support of the gay marriage issue. He is arrogant and has threatened some of the groups that failed to endorse him. He lied about his fundraising finances and blamed it on a clerical error. He is calculating, lying, fake smiling politician the likes of which we don’t need.
