There is a petition going around asking the city of KCMO to formalize the inclusion of local artists in its commissioning of public art. It will be one of the topics today on Up To Date, 11:00 a.m. on KCUR 89.3 FM.

Update: Wow, that was an odd discussion.  Steve talked to people involved in the arts community, but not any of the actual petitioning artists.   The whole thing came across as quite dismissive and condescending.

    “dismissive and condescending”
Well, welcome to Steve Kraske’s show. His show is a turd. If you’re not the mayor or Emmanuel Cleaver, or into what and who he likes, then you can certainly expect plenty of “dismissive and condescending”.
I love to hear him talk about the Crossroads because you can tell that even though he supposedly works at the ‘Star, he’s never gotten out of his car even once down there.
Hey, but at least it’s not the Cleaver in Union Station show. That one was even worse…
Well, maybe not quite as bad as Walt Bodine when he’s grouchy…

This why the arts component of the Bi-State II was a failure. The “arts advocates” had the deal set up to benefit their game and did not include those who do art. The advocates are the gate keepers for KC Arts and they will always run their own scam to the detriment of the artists. Crapiske walks in the same clouds they do. Only people in offices and elevators listen to the Crapiske show so who cares.
