Fiorella’s going to the Plaza
April 11, 2006 | 6 Comments
Last summer KC Masterpiece closed its only restaurant that was actually in KC, and now a much better joint is taking it’s place. Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue is taking over Masterpiece’s old Plaza location, opening it’s fourth restaurant in October at 4747 Wyandotte.

Amen. I detested Masterpiece.
AHHHH! Jack Stack beans – the best!
Seeing as KC Masterpiece was the only BBQ restaurant on the Plaza, it was damaging our reputation for BBQ with visitors. I’m glad Jack Stack is taking its place, KC Masterpiece was pathetic.
Needed to comment on this post, just to prove myself wrong. Kansas City BBQ can’t even touch Texas Q. Don’t get me started on chilli…
Hook’m Horns!
I am glad that a decent BBQ joint is opening on the Plaza. Jack Stack has a fine pedigree. It is very sad that the mothership Smokestack on 71 hwy has closed it’s doors. I know that the owners, daughters of the original owners, tried so hard to keep it afloat, but the population shift was too great. Many storefronts along that strip are likewise closed. Jack Fiorella mentioned in passing during an interview that the original site closed for mismanagement reasons. Too bad he does not have the courtesy that his family maintains. We wish him well, but will continue to get our BBQ fix at Smokestack on Wornall
I think Jack Stack will do wonderfully on the Plaza. I am a huge fan, however, I have found their quality to be somewhat inconsistant. If they can maintain consistantcy in their product, they’re sure to be a hit. Too bad they can’t go back to the original Smoke Stack BBQ sauce…it’s was MUCH better than the recipe they use today. Since the 71 HWY location is closed, I’ll have to make the trek to Wornall for the good sauce!
