PAC finally on the way

April 13, 2006 |

Backers of the Performing Arts Center have promised yet another groundbreaking, this one for October 2006. They say actual construction will start in December. Fundraising among the Mission Hillbillies crowd continues to be a mess, but hopefully the sight of bulldozers will inspire some confidence in the heiress and her boyfriend.

Makes it hard to take anything this guy says seriously.

So why do you keep coming back to read and comment on every post, William?

Because you need someone to keep you honest. Like saying I comment on every post. A gross exageration. In fact, you can count on one hand the number of posts I have commented upon. But reality obviously isn’t something of which you seem to have much understanding. A blog ain’t worth much if everybody has the same point of view. Since you dislike my comments why ilicit more by addressing me directly? Don’t be a hypocrite.

It’s too bad Julia Kauffman is so disdainful of “foot traffic” downtown. This could be a great addition were the organizers a bit more community minded. As it is, I’m confused as to why they chose downtown over a suburban location.

By the way, how do you get the job title “philanthropist”? Is that another way of saying trust fund kiddie?

    “Trust fund kiddie”

How much do you know about family charitable trusts? Most likely, Julia Irene Kaufman does not benefit from the funds that she directs. More so, she has the responsibility of seeing that a certain portion of the funds are apportioned according to some contractual understanding as well as the responsibility of investing the principal to maintain or even grow the fund for the benfit of future generations never to be reclaimed by the family.

As for as how you become a philanthropist… Eweng Kaufman devised a way to market a headache medecine at service stations around the midwest and had children. Whats the harm in that? Do you not like the arts? Do you not like the arts influenced by Johnson County money in Kansas City, MO? What would *you* do with the Kaufman Family Foundation’s money? Piss it away on a rolling roof for a bunch of empty promises? JIK may not be the brightest bulb in the pack but she *does* control the funds. If KCMO and Jackson County don’t want the money or the PAC they better tell her soon. In a pinch I might even be willing to help negotiate for such an attraction here in JoCo.

Yeah, I can see it now: The Dorthy/Toto Center for the Performing Arts. My! What big names that the Dorthy Toto Center would attract in the performing arts community! Maybe we could get some of the KS locals to even play the spoons for us on stage too - you know, encourage that local folk culture! I’ll plant a sunflower in my garden for that idea!

Unlike all the culture from big MO? Why does Kansas City, MO need a PAC anyway? All their real talant is already ensconsed in Branson and they had to import most of that as well. OTOH, we already have a fine Arts Center that attracts well enough here at the Junior College. Best stay off the Toto jokes as well. My Cairn Terrier, although not named Toto, is a great dog.
