KC’s new Independence Day event returns for another year at Berkley Riverfront Park, featuring food, music, water sports, and Zambelli fireworks. A free shuttle will run from the 3rd and Grand bus station. Abundant parking is available at garages and surface lots throughout the downtown loop. If the MAX bus is overcrowded we recommend the #57, which runs most of the same route.

The 57 runs the same route as the MAX – the 51 goes only as far north as 8th and Main. I would hate for the suburbianites to come downtown and get lost!

Thanks for your concerns, Sarah, but no need to worry about the suburbanites. We know how to read a map and program a GPS device. I’ll leave the bus to the suburbaphobic “city” dwellers.

You’ll be in for a shock, then. Due to construction where the big parking area usually is, the bus will be the only way in.

Nice to know,Scooter. But why should I be shocked? Of course, it would of been nice had BlogKC mentioned that fact.

Looks like they might have a portion of the grassy area open after all… not completely sure though. Probably down by the rugby fields. Most of the usual “parking” is still torn up though.

    There’s always the reliable bike.

We need to do everything possible to stop the suburban sprawl. It’s racist, at best.

    Tim-

Racist? Please. The problems with so-called suburban sprawl are many, including elements of racism. Your comment, however, over-simplifies.

Fleeing “the bad part” of town because of “good schools” (read as “white schools”) kind of says it all. As if there were no “good” private schools within the city…

    Again, Tim-

    You oversimplify.

Perhaps you should examine your own prejudices before you ascribe them to others.

As if people move to the burbs for the culture.

  12. Hajkar on July 5, 2006 8:09 pm

People move to and from the subarbs for many reasons. Do you have a point?
