Deconstructing the Save Our Stadiums campaign

The new Joco-based business magazine KCB Central has an excellent Joe Miller article on the political consultants behind the recent tax campaign for the Truman Sports Complex and rolling roof. Of course they devote a lot of time to the Steve Glorioso/Pat Gray/NorthStar Marketing cabal of companies, as well as the often unmentioned element of racial pandering common in many elections. They’re angle on this story is something you will never see in the Star, and reminds us of the work the Pitch’s work during the Tony Ortega era.

A great article by Joe, and a must read for anyone who is interested on how campaigns are really conducted in our fair city.

  2. Exactly why I won’t be hiring any political consultants.

Hopefully blogs like this one will shed light on what has been going on and more people will begin to take notice. Is it any wonder why people don’t trust government?

Keep up the good work BlogKC!

As much as I want to see the article, I’ll wait until KCBCentral.com has an entry at BugMeNot.com.

Amazing how stubborn some are about registering for a website. It’s a small sacrafice for free information.

Maybe you should haul your ass down to a bookstore to read it, or better yet, buy a subscription. Oops, you’d have to give your name for that too. My bad.

A very good article, and yes, it is nothing you will ever see in the Star. Something has always stunk out there at I-435 and I-70, never more apparent than the desperation we saw during the election from the SOS crowd. If there was ever a doubt that these stadiums are being used as cash cows by the Shields (Read: corrupt) political establishment, their behavior during the election and the ends they went to in winning, settled all bets.

Great article- but then Joe always comes through. The whole deal is capped off by the “NO BID CONTRACTS” that are being used to paybacksome of the backers. Ignorace and obsession with sports led the electorate astray and Gray knows how to grease the machinery.

I think you meant “Their angle on this…” and not “They’re angle on this…”.
