As someone who lost a Dad and little sister in this tragedy, and who has recently found out that my little sister was alive under that rubble for a few hours before she died, I can tell you it's taken this long to be able to deal with the pain and loss. This memorial is coming at a time when most of us survivors are ready to face the loss, pain and grief we have endured for so long and will continue to carry with us forever.

"If there was going to be a memorial, doesn’t it strike anyone as strange that in the last 25 years it hasn’t already been done?"

I think for the same reason some people who were left hanging for their lives, on the day of the disaster and years later, are ignored. The Judge, and the entire political system is corrupted.

It was a pretty major disaster and it seems that there should be at least some kind of remembrance of it - although most Kansas Citians probably have already forgotten it ever happened...

tough call. on one hand you've got 114 dead kansas citians and a lesson to teach future generations. on the other hand, it's private property, and what hotel would want that in their lobby?
