Pitch gets a makeover, courtesy of the Star

Today the Pitch Weekly launches a redesign. Behind the scenes, printing of the paper moves from the presses of the Columbia Daily Tribune to the KC Star’s brand new printing plant in the Crossroads. Quite an interesting move considering the Pitch’s attempts to manufacture a rivalry with the Star…

We’re curious to know if this redesign indicates a new version of the corporate parent’s cookie cutter template.

Odd pairing, since the Pitch seems to only be in business to attack The Star.

Also, just because The Star facility is PRINTING The Pitch, I don’t think it is a proper characterization to call The Star the “corporate parent”. As I understand it, The Star has no say on the content or the look of the Pitch.

However, the 900 numbers, and the phrase “Bi-Curious?” in the back pages of The Pitch should look much more colorful coming off The Star’s new press! :)

One more thing… is the print facility in the Crossroads?
I would think that since it’s right across the street from the Sprint Center, that would be considered downtown.

the northern border of the crossroads is truman road, so just by a hair. it’s all downtown, though, according to the downtown council (31st street to the river).

By “corporate parent” we mean the company that owns the Pitch, Village Voice Media.  We didn’t mean to imply that the Star was the corporate parent.

Awesome post. It’s all corporate media. It’s important that people know at the end of the day The Pitch and The Star are one in the same. Again, awesome snooping BlogKC!!!

I like the new format. I wish they would get another reporter who would dig around city hall like Joe Miller used to. They need to provide us with info we can use like on the Charter changes proposed for Tuesdays vote. The City Hall people never provide info– except “this is good, vote for it” and Pat Grays organization gets paid to put out the same message so usually we go to the polls with not enough information about what these type of changes will do. Question #2 is susposed to speed things through city hall. With the recent problems that have popped us on how they spend and account for our money we need to slow City Hall down a little. The Pitch used to help keep them honest.

I’ve been an avid reader of both for many years, the Pitch, since 91. Why would they change format?

Tell me, and I have a tendency to lean toward the right, why they’d do this.

Not much on my mind. I don’t care. I’ve just been letting everything happen without me , but shrug. Whatever. I feel like a void.

I just don’t have anything to say , but shrug. So it goes. Not much on my mind recently. I can’t be bothered with anything recently.
