After 85 years Nichols Lunch closed yesterday without any advance warning. I’m devastated, and didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye. It was a Midtown landmark, with the best 3:00 a.m. trannies and eggs anywhere in the city.

Wow, that is a shame. I don’t know what those waitresses are going to do now…I know a few of them, and most of them are older and will probably have a tough time finding a similar job. Plus, it was pretty convenient for me, and I hate the idea of empty buildings in the neighborhood.
