We want the Funk
November 20, 2006 |
Outgoing City Auditor Mark Funkhouser is running for mayor. The Buzz Blog notes an impending press conference, but we found his campaign web site that already spills the beans.
By my count that brings the mayoral field up to 10 candidates. You can see the entire list here: http://blogkc.com/2007-city-council-candidates/

Whoo hoo!! First time to actually be excited about a mayor’s race here.
Oh crap! I will have to reconsider my vote for the other Mark F.
Wrong race, Ryan! Council != Mayor;
Ryan, I can only assume you’re talking about Mark Forsythe… He’s running for 4th district City Council, not mayor.
So two votes for Mark F.s will not be in conflict. (I know my plans…)
Ryan,
You were going to abandon me? I’m hurt!
Jeff and Alan are correct. I’m not running for mayor. I can only imagine how much more crowded all these races will get over the next few weeks.
Personally I think that’s a good thing.
Thanks for the endorsement Alan.
I’m very impressed with Mark Funkhouser’s web site, credentials, humor, analysis of the city and its challenges, and his ideas for governing. And, yes, there are other good candidates as well. But Mark’s approach is so different than what I’m used to seeing in a mayoral race.
THE SEWER SEPARATION, LIGHT RAIL, NEGLECTED
NEIGHBORHOOD, INFASTRUCTURE NEGLECT,ETC.
SOMETIMES SOMEONE COMES ALONG TO FIX PROBLEMS
THAT HAVE HAPPENED FOR YEARS.
AS AUDITOR ,MARK FUNKHOUSER HAS THE EXPERIENCE OF LOOKING AT THE CITY WITH A MAGNIFYING GLASS AND SEE WHAT HAS WORKED AMD WHAT HASN’T. HIS KNOWLEDGE ANDINTEGRITY ARE JUST WHAT KANSAS CITY NEEDS AT THIS TIME.
