Again with the stem cells

Barely a month after Missourians approved a constitutional amendment to protect scientific research, Lee’s Summit State Senator and certified wingnut Matt Bartle is back with an a do-over. He is proposing another referendum to delete Amendment 2 and replace with a ban on all stem cell research.

Governor Blunt and many other Republicans are already distancing themselves, and Fired Up has an interesting angle on this scheme. They speculate that it is really a way to stir up the other wingnuts and give Bartle a leg up on what will be a crowded field for Attorney General in 2008.

However I wouldn’t be surprised if this actually makes it onto a ballot. It wasn’t long ago this same General Assembly pushed through concealed carry law after voters twice rejected it. Obviously they won’t let voters overrule them without a fight.

    Typical. What’s next? I know why not just rip up that lil paper called the constitution. These fucking bible beaters make me sick.

    Matt Bartle stated that “the people didn’t understand what they voted on” since the amendment contained the words “Bans human cloning”. Interesting enough, the definition of cloning was “implanting it into a woman for the sake of growing a human being”. Technically, it does allow for cloning outside the womb EXCEPT there are two major problems. First, medically it can not be done yet. Second, they only have five days before cells must be destroyed.

    I don’t care what Matt thinks is right, he is suppose to represent the people, not himself. If he can not represent the people,,,,,,,,he must go away.

    I may not agree with the guy. But when i hear you guys call him a wingnut it only makes me think the author of this article is one himself. :)

    I’m still trying to figure out how that idiot keeps getting elected. I just never thought of Lee’s Summit as that far right. I know I’ve never voted for him.
